I was fortunate to team up with Scott Lenox of Pole Position Charters to take out a group of Happy Campers from Association island for a 1/2 day charter.  The lakers were in front of the light nhouse in 135 feet water on the bottom.  Cowbell rigs with peanuts were the rigs of choice.  The one laker in the middle went over 16 pounds.

Wed., July 2

had the distinct pleasure of taking Mr. Dick Whitenberg, and Mark Miller (owner and general manger of Harbors End Marina on a Brown Trout fishing trip.  We had a picture perfect day with sun and temps in the low 80's.  We fished off the finger in front of Stoney Point light.  Their was alot of bait present right on the bottom.  The fish came from 87 - 100 feet down in 120 feet of water.  Stinger spoons did most of the damage.  I really enjoyed fishing with these two, great conversations!!

BTW....if you are looking for some great used boats, or some new ones (Glacier Bay & Eastern) give mike a call.  I'm kind of partial to the Easterns...its a semi displacement hull and looks really over built to take on the worst the Lake Ontario has to dish out.  Check them out on my links page.

Saturday, June 15, 2008 - Fathers Day

We started the day with a great breakfast at the Cherry Tree, and got out on the water around 9:30.  It was a beautiful day and we started fishing around Gravelly in about 70 feet of water.  We started trolling and the Furuno lit up with bait.  It wasn't long before we had a rip off the planner board with a nice 10 lb brown.  Most of the marks we were between 30 - 50 feet down in 60 - 100 feet of water.  Stinger spoons in NBK and rosemary's baby were hot, as well as my personal favorite a blue and silver Hi-Tech spoon.

Below is a picture of Dad with two of the biggest fish of the day, a ten pound brown and a twelve pound walleye.  Thanks Dad....an Happy Fathers Day!

This last weekend I took out the Mark Wilson party for a interesting day of Walleye fishing. It all started right at the boat slip when we watched on of the cottages go up in flames. Fortunately no one was hurt.

We fished mainly Chaumont Bay. It POURED for the first half of the day. We caught about a four foot gar. But the catch of the day was a 12 pound walleye seen below. This eye is currently at Charlie Rawson's (Fish Taxi) being mounted.

I fished this weekend with friends from Gouverneur, NY and my part time rigger from Connecticut in the Henderson Harbor Derby.  We spent both Saturday and Sunday focusing on Walleyes.  Unfortunately the walleyes did not want to cooperate! I guess a few walleyes were caught on the first day of the derby on Thursday (1st place Walleye weighed in at 12lbs!).  We did catch 8 - 9 Northern Pike on Saturday. Sunday we caught another 4, plus a couple of Bass.  From what we heard at Henchen’s and saw at the fish cleaner’s table we were in good company, not alot of 'eyes were caught, but those that went Brown Trout Fishing did VERY well.

I'll probably try the BT's this weekend coming up unless something changes with the Walleyes.

On Saturday, April 26th, I took out the Mitchell Smith party from Edison, N.J. Mitchell and his sons fished for Kings last year out of Henderson and this spring he brought the gang from the hunting camp along for some of Henderson's Brown Trout. We had a great day with a few good laughs. We ended up limiting out and catching and releasing a few others until the thunderstorms drove us off the lake. It was great seeing trench fisherman out there enjoying the action.
